About the Contemporary Performance Lab
The Contemporary Performance Lab (CPL) is an in-house ensemble that provides valuable learning and networking opportunities for curious and aspiring musicians to hone their craft. Throughout the festival week, CPL Fellows are able to attend masterclasses, workshops, rehearsals, and community events alongside world-class musicians. These experiences allow them to gain first-hand experience in contemporary music performance under the guidance of SAF’s festival artists. During the festival, you will see these impressive young artists in pop-up concerts, performances, and assisting with festival production.
CPL Fellows interested in honing their skills in education are also invited to participate in kids workshop events in partnership with Contemporary Calgary. This year, Sweta, Matthew, Gabrielle, and Henry engaged in a fun-filled workshop teaching the concepts of graphic scores and creative musicmaking to kids between the ages of 5 and 12.
