NUM

NUM is an interdisciplinary duo formed by Maryam Sirvan and Milad Bagheri in 2010. Originally from northern Iran and now based in Calgary, Canada, their work spans electroacoustic music, sound art, and multimedia installation. Their artistic practice has been presented at festivals, residencies, and exhibitions across West Asia, Europe, and Canada. Milad Bagheri is a music technologist, sound artist, and composer whose work focuses on hybrid interactive sonic systems and multidisciplinary performance. He holds graduate training in Sonic Arts from the University of Calgary, with earlier studies in music technology and electrical engineering. His work has received recognition including the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship and the Radio Lab Prize presented by The Wire and CTM Festival. Within NUM, he works as producer, composer, sound artist, and sound engineer. Maryam Sirvan is a sound artist, vocalist, and composer whose practice explores the expressive possibilities of noise, processed voice, and electronics. Within NUM, she works across composition, sound art, voice, electric guitar, and flute. Her work has received recognition, support, and commissions from organizations including Deutschlandfunk Kultur in Germany and the Media Arts Committee in Canada.
