Holly Roadfeldt
American pianist Holly Roadfeldt is a leading advocate for contemporary music, known for performances that fuse virtuosic command and interpretive depth. Praised as a “perfect pairing of technical prowess and innate sensitivity” (American Record Guide), she has premiered more than 150 works by over four dozen composers, establishing herself as a vital force in bringing new music to life. Roadfeldt’s artistry is defined by connection—between past and present, composer and listener. Her signature initiative, The Preludes Project, exemplifies this vision: a three-year endeavor featuring 65 newly commissioned preludes paired with canonical repertoire in lecture-recitals across 17 states. The project culminated in her debut album (PARMA Recordings), produced by multi-GRAMMY® winner Andreas Meyer. A compelling presence on stages across North America, Europe, and Asia, Roadfeldt continues to shape the landscape of new music through close collaborations with composers. Her Sound Atlas New Music Festival program features a work by Tonia Ko written for her, alongside works written for her by David Rakowski, Kirk O’Riordan, and Anthony Joseph Lanman—including Hommage à Eddie Van Halen from her 2025 album Hommages—as well as music by Mary Kouyoumdjian and Joan Tower. Her discography and ongoing projects, including North American Narratives (2026), reflect a sustained commitment to amplifying contemporary voices through performance, recording, and curatorial programming. Her performances often integrate storytelling and interdisciplinary collaboration, inviting audiences into a direct and meaningful engagement with sound. Whether premiering new works or reimagining established repertoire, Roadfeldt brings a distinctive voice to the piano—one grounded in clarity, curiosity, and a deep commitment to artistic dialogue.
