Minsol Kim

Percussion

Born and raised in South Korea, Minsol Kim began her musical journey with piano at the age of five and developed a love for percussion through Samulnori, a traditional Korean percussion ensemble. This early experience sparked her interest in exploring various musical genres, especially traditional music. After immigrating to Canada, she discovered orchestral percussion in high school and pursued it with passion. She was selected for the Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra and later joined the Calgary Youth Orchestra after moving to Calgary from Toronto. She is currently studying privately with Nia Devetzis and actively performs in various school ensembles, including jazz, wind, and percussion. She has also played with Alberta Winds, Calgary Civic Orchestra, Calgary Korean Orchestra, and MRU Wind Ensemble and is currently studying in the MRU Percussion Academy and Chamber Ensemble under Nia Devetzis and Sean Buckley. Minsol hopes to pursue music professionally and continue to explore.
